Pete Lestinsky is the Diesel Service Technology Teacher at the Elkhart Area Career Center Elkhart, Indiana. Pete Lestinsky received an AAS degree from Ivy Tech, South Bend, Indiana in Automotive Service and a Technical Certificate in Diesel Power. After 40 years in the Diesel Industry as a technician at a dealership, agricultural OEM, regional flatbed fleet, Top 20 LTL fleet, and independent repair shop owner, Pete Lestinsky pursued a career as a teacher. In 2015 the Elkhart Area Career Center started a Diesel Service Technology Program. Pete Lestinsky was selected to develop and teach the program. The program has evolved to a new facility, offering students college credits, industry recognized certificates, and internship opportunities. The program has produced four gold, two silver, and one bronze medal Indiana SkillsUSA winners, with the four gold medalists competing at the national level. Pete Lestinsky has been married for 42 years, has two children and four grandsons. Hobbies include his career as a high school football official, a small farm and traveling.
